In 2018, The Lead Deadwood Arts Center (LDAC) will celebrate its 28th year of bringing quality arts programming to the Lead and Deadwood area. Established in 1990, the Lead Deadwood Arts Center evolved from a small group of enthusiastic organizers into a member driven, nonprofit 501(c)3 agency supporting artistic efforts throughout the communities of Lead and Deadwood.
The LDAC is managed by an Executive Director, a part-time assistant and a volunteer Board of approximately 10 individuals who are proud of the accomplishments and success LDAC has achieved in the past 28 years.
Today, the LDAC also operates a beautiful art gallery and gift shop which is located in the mercantile portion of the Historic Homestake Opera House. LDAC also provides quality, custom framing with the largest frame selection in the area.
The LDAC makes life in Lead Deadwood a little more fun with its programming including: community art projects, LEGO contest for kids, exhibits, classes, art contests, free craft projects for kids, culinary events, etc.
In the last year, the LDAC was funded by grants from the South Dakota Arts Council (support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism and State Development, and the National Endowment for the Arts), Adams-Mastrovich Family Foundation, City of Lead, Deadwood Historic Preservation, Wharf Goldcorp Prosperity Fund, Walter and Frances Green Fund, memberships and fundraisers
